| MISSION STATEMENT
The following scenario is what we are trying to prevent:
The Church hires an Architect to design a new
facility, a building addition, or building renovations. The Architect meets with the Church
and develops the desired program. The Architect goes on with the design and presents the
Church with a beautiful concept. The Church decides to have a model built or an expensive
rendering done to showcase the new facility. After seeing the model, the congregation
falls in love with the idea. The Architect finishes the plans and obtains bids for the
work.
When the bid envelopes are opened, the Church gets
the shock of a lifetime. The building that was sold and promised to the congregation is
50% over the budget and the Church will not be able to afford the project.
Now the Pastor, Trustees, and Deacons must go
before the congregation and deliver the bad news. The model they have been admiring for
the past two years will never become a reality. The Pastor and Joint Board have now lost
the confidence of the members. Donations and membership start to decline.
This scenario does not occur on every project, but
it only has to occur on your project to shake the very foundation of the Church. |
